Bethany trains with Harlow Athletic Club. She started athletics two years ago after being an elite gymnast; she made the transition to the heptathlon after outgrowing gymnastics. She started with high jump using her gymnastic skills and then moved onto the seven event heptathlon, with the jumps being her strongest events.
She has had a fantastic year:
She was Essex champion in high jump both indoors and outdoors
She was Essex Schools high jump champion
She also won bronze in the Essex Combined Events where her score qualified her to represent Essex in the regional championships. Here she produced five pbs out of the seven events and qualified for the Essex team in the National English Schools Heptathlon finals in Exeter.
Bethany also competed for GB in the World Catholic School Games in France where she won silver in the high jump. Her high jump pb of 1m63 also qualified her to represent Essex in the Inter-County Championships. Bethany has been under Sophie’s care for regular sports massage maintenance sessions to help with some sporting adolescent growing pains and tight musculature from training hard.
