Lara is our Senior Sports Rehabilitator and a member of BASRaT - British Association of Sport Rehabilitators.

Lara specialises in rehabilitation and works with clients who are suffering from a muscle, joint, bone or nerve injury.

Lara’s approach is holistic - a combination of hands on manual treatment as well as bespoke rehab exercises. Throughout her career, she has gained valuable experience working in professional football at Hartlepool United, as well as spending time in private practice treating a wide variety of injuries. This has enabled her to combine her personal training expertise with her rehab knowledge to create personalised rehab programmes tailored to each individual's goals; whether that's running a marathon or simply being able to plant your favourite flowers.

Lara graduated from the University of Sunderland with a First Class BSc (Hons) Sport and Rehabilitation degree and has worked with a fantastic variety of sports and non sports clients, delivering fantastic results.

There are 2 types of appointments you can book with Lara:

  • Sports Rehab appointment - for an actual injury which needs assessing, diagnosing and treating.

  • Sports massage - for maintenance treatment to tight, used, aching muscles.

Q&A with Lara

What is the best thing about being a sports rehabilitator?

Seeing people’s confidence come back after an injury.

What sports are you interested in?

Netball and football for sure, but you’ll catch me watching any sport on the TV!

What sports do you do?

I currently play netball and spend most of my spare time weight training in the gym.

What is your favourite muscle and why?

The glutes! They’re incredibly powerful and play a huge role in running, jumping and changing direction. Strong glutes will help to support the lower back and knees, making them vital for both good performance but also injury prevention.

What is your favourite joint and why?

The shoulder because it has such a great range of motion but is a very fragile joint which shows how mobility and stability have to work hand in hand for us to move well.

What is your favourite stretch for the body?

The world’s greatest stretch, obviously! It works on your hips, hamstrings, thoracic spine and shoulders all at once, making it super effective but also efficient if you struggle for time.

Who is your favourite sportsperson at the moment and why?

It will always be Jessica Ennis-Hill, she has shown amazing resilience throughout her career and proved that hard work, patience and consistency pay off. I aspire to be as determined as she is.

What are your sporting goals?

  • Get my first pull up!

  • Get back into squatting

  • Help my netball team to get a promotion

You are stranded on a desert island and are only allowed to have three things with you - what are they?

  • A hammock

  • A book

  • Apple juice
