St Clare Hospice 10k 2021

On Sunday morning 10th April, Sophie, Carly and our very talented SV Sponsored athlete Lee Wood had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at St Clare's Hospice annual 10K run.

The morning started with everyone meeting outside the hospice, music playing, lots of enthusiastic energy from the running and wheelchair competitors! At 10:30 we had a short walk to the starting line and off they went!

There were some incredible results on the day with plenty of runners smashing their PB's!

T54 GB Paralympian and Harlow Athletics Club coach, Richard Chiassaro, was the first wheelchair competitor across the finish line in a time of 26:20 mins.

The first man back was James Bosher, from Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners, in a time of 32:57 mins. He was followed by Mark Spiller from Bishops Stortford Running Club (33:18), and then Ryan Prout of Brentwood Running Club (33:24) who took third place overall.

The first woman back was Laura Thomas of Ipswich Jaffa Running Club with a time of 36:12 mins. Followed by Leann Bennett from Harlow Running Club (45:08), and then Sophie Donges of Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets Athletics Club (45:50).

We thoroughly enjoyed being part of this event, it was wonderful being able to pass the competitors their medals as they crossed the finish line and spend time talking with them about how the experience was for them.

The event raised an incredible total of just over £11,000! We are so happy for St Clare’s and so incredibly proud of everyone who took part to raise money for this fantastic hospice!

Dust off those runners and sign up for their September 10KM! We will see you there!
