When George ran with Mo Farah... and got a new PB!

SV sponsored athlete and Orion Harrier, George Day, took part in the Vitality London 10k on 28 May and started the race side by side with Mo Farah! Sophie caught up with 19-year-old George last week and here's what he had to say: George, what did it feel like running alongside Mo Farah? Well it felt like just another runner! I went in the lead straight away from the start line, I always start races fast. After 300m into the race there was quite a gap between me and Mo, maybe 8-10 sec gap and I thought, okay, stick with this. The crowds were really lifting! Then just before the 1km mark, Mo overtook and accelerated off into the distance completing the race in 29:44.

I bet you were really looking forward to the lead up of the race? Funnily enough, I only booked onto the Vitality London 10k two weeks before the actual race! I was with my family and they mentioned why don't I run it, so I went onto the website and the entries were still open so I signed up! It was my first Vitality 10k. I'll definitely do it again next year. I hear it was a PB for you? Yes my last 10k PB was set in June 2017 at the Orion Harrier FASTFriday event at 33:51. My new PB is 33:40! And you'll be racing again at this year's FASTFriday event?

Yes definitely. I've got the Watford Open event 800m this week, then the SAL League in Hornchurch then 10k at Orion Harriers' FASTfriday on 29 June. Huge congratulations to George. We look forward to seeing him race at FASTFriday on 29 June. Come down and support our amazing SV clients and Orion Harriers at the event.
