SV Sports Therapy was proud to be the only official VMLM sports injury clinic in Essex for the third consecutive year. We absolutely LOVE helping these amazing novice and advanced marathon runners every year and this year was no exception.
Some runners came to our clinic with an injury which could have prevented them from completing their training or maybe not even making it to the start line. With these clients, we assessed and diagnosed their injury then treated them accordingly and adjusting their running programme weekly so they could then successfully progress to actual race day.
Other runners visited our clinic for a maintenance sports massage; they felt tired, tight and heavy in their legs from the accumulation of training. Some runners saw us on a weekly basis for treatment; others as and when they felt necessary or when time and finances allowed them.
Every year, December to April is a special time at SV, as we really do care about our clients and during these months is where we see a lot of runners, mainly training for the London Marathon. Then comes race day – I stand at Mile 25 for approximately 8 hours and try and spot as many of our clients as possible. And what a joyful day it is. It’s quite emotional, actually.
It really is an honour to help each and every one of you. Thank you for choosing SV Sports Therapy to help you and thank you for having us be part of your amazing marathon journey. I hope you have all had the time and positivity to reminisce about the 24th April 2016 and I know some of you have even entered the ballot for 2017!
I’ve shared a few tears with some of you as you didn’t have the belief in yourself but I knew you would succeed! I am pleased to say every single SV client who began the marathon on race day crossed the finish line, so well done to you! Whether it was your first marathon, last marathon, PB, world record attempt, you did it! Here’s to next year, eh?!
(With marathon hugs from Sophie)
